Our Story
Discover the story behind Chaitikaa, inspired by a cherished saree and a belief in preserving the beauty, memories, craftsmanship, and traditions woven into Indian textiles.

Some Sarees Carry More Than a Story
Years after my husband's grandmother passed away, I came across one of her sarees. It had been tucked away for years.
I remember holding it and wondering how something that had been kept for so long could still feel so beautiful — and, in a strange way, so new.
The colours had stayed with it.
The fabric still had its own character.
The weave still told its story.
But what stayed with me most was the thought:
How can a saree feel this new after so many years?
It wasn't new at all.
It was simply timeless.
And perhaps that is what makes the saree so special.
A Saree That Changed the Way We Looked at Tradition
That moment made us look at sarees differently.
We started thinking about what makes a saree stay with us long after the occasion for which it was bought has passed.
A saree can be worn once and remembered for years.
It can belong to one generation and then find its way into another.
It can sit quietly in a wardrobe for years, only to be unfolded again and feel as relevant and beautiful as ever.
The saree doesn't simply preserve fabric.
It preserves stories.
That thought became the beginning of Chaitikaa.
The Idea Behind Chaitikaa
We wanted to create a saree brand that celebrates this timeless quality while giving today's generation its own way to discover and wear the saree.
India's textile heritage is incredibly diverse. Across different regions, generations of makers have developed distinctive fabrics, weaves, patterns, colours and techniques.
Every saree carries some part of that heritage.
At Chaitikaa, we want to bring these details closer to you — not simply as products, but as pieces of textile tradition that can become part of your own story.
The Meaning Behind Chaitikaa
The name Chaitikaa draws inspiration from Chaitra, a season associated with renewal, colour and new beginnings.
That idea felt especially meaningful to us.
Because finding an old saree and seeing it feel new again reminded us that tradition doesn't have to remain in the past.
It can be rediscovered. It can be reinterpreted. It can be worn in a new way. And it can begin another story.
Chaitikaa is inspired by that spirit — honouring what came before while making space for what comes next.
Rooted in Tradition. Made for Today.
The saree has never really stood still. While its roots reach deep into India's history and culture, every generation has found its own way of wearing it.
Different fabrics. Different weaves. Different colours. Different patterns. Different ways of draping and styling.
And yet, the essence remains.
At Chaitikaa, we believe tradition becomes truly timeless when it can continue to evolve.
We are drawn to sarees that carry the character of Indian textiles while fitting naturally into the lives and wardrobes of today's women.
Rooted in tradition, but never restricted by it.
Every Saree Has a Story
We believe a saree is more than fabric stitched into a beautiful silhouette.
Its story can be found in the details.
The texture of the fabric. The character of the weave. The colours chosen.
The patterns and motifs. The craftsmanship. The way it falls when draped.
And eventually, the memories created while wearing it.
That's why we want to make those details easier to discover.
When you shop Chaitikaa, we want you to understand not only what a saree looks like, but also what makes it special.
Curated With Intention
We don't believe that a larger catalogue automatically means a better collection.
For us, curation is about choosing sarees with character.
We look at each saree through its individual qualities:
- Fabric — How it feels, moves and falls.
- Weave — The texture, structure and character created through the way it is woven.
- Pattern — The motifs and visual details that give the saree its identity.
- Colour — The shades that define its mood and expression.
- Occasion — Whether it belongs to an everyday moment, a celebration, a gathering or somewhere in between.
- Versatility — Because the most meaningful sarees are often the ones that become part of more than one occasion.
We want every saree at Chaitikaa to feel considered — not simply added to a catalogue.
Celebrating Indian Textile Heritage
India's textile traditions are as diverse as the country itself.
Different regions have developed their own languages of fabric, weaving, colour and pattern. Some are instantly recognisable.
Others are waiting to be discovered.
We want Chaitikaa to be a place where these traditions can be explored with curiosity and appreciation.
Because we believe that understanding a saree can make wearing it even more meaningful.
Knowing its fabric. Noticing its weave. Recognising its pattern. Learning how to care for it. And then making it your own.
Sarees for Your Stories
A saree can mean different things to different people.
It can be the saree you wear to a wedding. The one you choose for a festival.
The one you reach for on an ordinary day because it simply feels right.
It can remind you of your mother. Your grandmother. A particular celebration.
A particular place. Or a particular time in your life.
And sometimes, there doesn't need to be a reason at all.
Sometimes you simply see a saree and think:
“This one is mine.”
We want Chaitikaa to help you find those sarees.
The ones that don't just look beautiful today, but become part of your story tomorrow.
Our Beginning
Chaitikaa is beginning with sarees.
But the idea behind it began with a saree that had already lived a life before we found it.
It reminded us that tradition doesn't have to be preserved by simply keeping it untouched.
Sometimes, the best way to honour tradition is to let it live again.
To wear it. To style it. To share it. To create new memories with it.
And eventually, to pass it forward.
That is the journey we want Chaitikaa to be part of.
A journey where the beauty of Indian sarees and textile traditions meets the women of today. Where every saree has a story behind it. And where every woman gets to create her own story with it.
For the Stories Yet to Come
That saree from my husband's grandmother made us realise something.
A beautiful saree doesn't necessarily become old with time.
Sometimes, it becomes more meaningful.
Its value isn't only in the fabric or the craftsmanship.
It is also in the memories attached to it and the stories that continue after it has passed from one person to another.
Perhaps one day, a saree you discover at Chaitikaa will become someone's special saree.
Perhaps it will be worn at a celebration. Perhaps it will become an everyday favourite.
Perhaps it will be carefully folded away and rediscovered years later.
And perhaps someone will hold it and wonder:
“How does this still feel so new?”
That is the kind of timelessness we hope to find in every saree we bring to Chaitikaa.
Inspired by tradition. Open to new beginnings. Woven into your story.
